We desire to see the heart of people worldwide receive emotional healing in Jesus’ name! The vision of the Heart Conference came from missionaries asking for counseling resources to use in the mission field as many areas of the
world have no counseling care, so missionaries often provide that care. For the Heart Conferences, we choose ministries to partner with that desire to be specifically equipped in being instruments of God’s love and healing, as they
share the Gospel with the poor or marginalized, trafficked or abused, and rejected. Our first Heart conference was in Pattaya Thailand where we partnered with YWAM’s Tamar Center ministering to women, children and ladyboys trapped in
sex trafficking. Now, our second conference will be in La Ceiba, Honduras ministering to deaf and marginalized in rural Honduras.
This coming March 11-20, 2016, the Oaks will be providing a counseling intensive, La Ceiba Heart Conference, to train and counsel missionaries that work with the poor, marginalized and deaf in rural Honduras.
We will be training missionaries in Honduras in counseling and art therapy so the missionaries can use these tools in their village outreaches near La Ceiba. We will also be providing counseling for the missionaries since many missionaries ministering to marginalized populations experience secondary trauma from the sadness they witness. In addition, we will be coming alongside Signs of Love (a ministry to deaf marginalized children) to minister to some of the deaf children from rural regions around Honduras.
Many of the deaf students that we will be working with have been misunderstood as “cursed” by spirits or God since they are deaf. This is particularly painful as many of the children have emotional challenges, not only from being deaf with not having learned or are aware of recognized sign language, but also due to feeling rejected, as cursed, by their families. We are so privileged to come alongside this amazing ministry and help strengthen those serving in this region to minister in rural outreaches.
We are trusting God for His provision and praise Him for the opportunities to see His healing and restoration come to those on the frontlines!
